One thing the church desired in a new design was some semblance of separation between the sanctuary and the kitchen/dining space set aside for their Community Table outreach program. This is served by the entry courtyard that pulls visitors off the street and then guides them into the building. Though the program is sufficiently distinct, the colored stained glass wall at the northwest facade of the sanctuary ties the spaces together. With the exception of the caretaker's unit, guest suite, and service spaces, the multi-colored glass is visible throughout the entire building through the glass storefront system that surrounds the entry courtyard and deck above it. The stained glass is a nod to the vibrant colors in the surrounding neighborhood and is a constant reminder to anyone seeing it that, even when it may not seem like it, life is full marvelous colors and wondrous fascinations. It is a reminder to love each other as we love ourselves and to find beauty in the simple things.
